Like you said the use of a weight distribution system depends on the vehicle specifications. I checked with Tesla and they do not recommend the use of one due to the unibody construction. Weight distribution systems transfer a portion of the weight of the trailer to the vehicle. A bumpy road will transfer a lot of stress into the unibody of the Model X. The reason that's considered detrimental is that the entire body will bend and twist repeatedly, and could eventually fail.

The K67's are recommended because they are Class-S Compatible which means they're low-profile to fit the minimal spacing you have between the tire and wheel well.
